Design Language We took a break |
The past few months have been a whirlwind for most of us. Between devastating news stories, unfortunate personal events or just the general lead-up to the end of the year, it began to feel a bit like we were just treading water. Like most of you, we are small business owners, and with running and operating a small business comes all the highs and lows. The biggest lesson we learned over the past few months was the importance of structure and purpose in what you do. StructureI keep hearing people mention that this year has gone so fast, how can it possibly be December? I echo that statement, it feels like in a blink we leap forward a month. The good thing about having structure is that when these jumps happen it’s not frightening, it’s just part of the process. We’ve learnt that having a good process in place means that you can create routines, you can create processes and put certain tasks onto autopilot. The beauty of a structure is being able to not think about it. The more we think about something, the more it consumes our thoughts, emotions and general way of being. When something becomes routine, you don’t need to think about it, you just do it. We realised that we lost our structure. Last month we worked on some incredible projects; we submitted an Augmented Reality Game for funding which we can’t wait to reveal. We supported the Nicholas Building Association in their first Love & Rage. We worked with two very passionate creatives on launching their new brand Anemoia Studio into the market. And we secured a lease on our own Revontulet Studio, Studio. But with all these exciting things, we let our content and marketing fall by the wayside, which is ironic for a business that helps others with their marketing. But hey, we’re just human, we’re not perfect. What this break in marketing, and a slowdown of new work meant is that we had an eagle-eyed view on our own business, process and structure. It allowed us to create a plan to move forward into 2024 and work on projects we’re truly passionate about. PurposeWe realised that the common theme with all of our clients was not the field of work they were in or the type of product they sold, it was that they were people who contributed to something greater than themselves. We’ve reviewed our purpose through this, and we’re now moving in a direction where our work will be more focused on supporting businesses that have a strong mission. Moving forward we’ll be offering brand coaching as our main offering, which is just a new name for what we’re already doing. Rather than big projects, we’re shifting our process to be more hands-on and collaborative with our clients. We will still maintain the deliverables we’ve previously supported such as content strategy and go-to-market plans. Instead we’ll be moving into a session-by-session approach to help brands refine their messaging and digital presence to engage the right people. To start with we’re offering our past clients, and network a discounted rate while we transition to this approach. If you or any conscious businesses you know could benefit from having a supportive team to help them with accountability and the support to promote their story to the world, we’d love to be a part of it. Thanks for being part of our journey. We can’t wait to continue to be part of yours. |
